Q: What is Cosmetic Gynecology?

A:  Is an aesthetic reconstructive surgery of the female genitals and  includes the following procedures : Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation,  Labiaplasty , Clitoral Hood reduction, Perineoplasty, and Hymenoplasty.

Q : What  are the services offered in Cosmetic Gynecology?

Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation :

Also referred as Vaginoplasty.

This procedure restore the “ tightness” of  the vagina. It is designed to bring back the optimum architectural integrity of the vagina. It repairs not only the skin and soft tissue  surrounding the vagina but  the vaginal musculature and  support  tissues as well  restoring vaginal  tone and strength . The procedure also corrects a “gaping” vaginal opening, restoring the  vagina’s  “youthful”  appearance.

LVR may enhance  sexual gratification in women. Sexual gratification for the female, according to Masters and Johnson, is directly related to the amount of frictional forces generated . Tightening the vagina helps in increasing  the friction during intercourse enhancing the sensual gratification of the act.

Designer Laser Labiaplasty:

This involves the cosmetic  reduction and reshaping of  the labia majora ( outer lips ) and/or  labia minora (smaller inner lips) of the vagina.

Enlarged labial tissues often  results to  physical discomfort or embarrassment of the woman. This surgery will correct these issues.

Perineoplasty/Perineorraphy

The perineum is the space between the vagina and the anus . This space is often narrowed with loosening of the skin in women having regular sexual activity.  The procedure reduces redundant vaginal mucosa, widens the perineal body and approximates the labia  back to its original “pubertal”  location. This is for women who may have  no  “vaginal looseness” and  the focus  is only on reduction of the vaginal opening  and aesthetic repair.

Laser Hymenoplasty :

To repair back the hymen on its “ virginal “, untorned state.

Q: When do I need Vaginal reconstruction and why is it important ?

A: These surgeries aim to improve the appearance and function of the vaginal tissues, the effect of which is  important for both personal esteem and physiologic function of the woman. Pregnancy and childbirth  often results to the looseness of vaginal tissues or unappealing appearance of labial tissue. If you have finished your childbearing years or is just simply concerned with your personal appearance and are looking for ways to deal with this problem this procedure is for you. Some feel that they have lost a great deal of sexual sensation due to "loosenes" of the vagina. An intimate make-over can help you achieve your desired look and improve your intimacy levels. Being satisfied in this aspects more often than not brings out the inner beauty and confidence of any woman.  Imagine how much better your life could be!

Q: How can Vaginal rejuvenation enhance sexual gratification ?

A:  According to Masters and Johnson (pioneers of the scientific study of  the nature of  human sexual response) “ female sexual gratification is directly related to the amount of frictional forces generated during the act “. Tighter vaginal tone  lead to greater frictional forces, enhancing sensation and gratification. Plus the aesthetic enhancements is an additional enticement that  boosts the woman confidence during the sexual activity.

Q: Vaginal Rejuvenation  vs  Perineoplasty :

A: Vaginal Rejuvenation is recommended for women who have undergone vaginal birth or those who seem to notice that the bottom floor of their vagina is “relaxed”,  and for those who suffers decreased sexual sensation or gratification due to vaginal “ looseness ”.

Perineoplasty is recommended for women who have not borne children and the focus is on the reduction of the vaginal diameter and aesthetic adjustment.

Q: Why is the use laser important in these procedures?

A: The laser is an important surgical tool since it is minimally destructive, affords less  bleeding of surgical site, essentially minimized pain  post-op  and allows for faster healing and better aesthetic results.

Here at Contours, Dr. Sheree uses the Ellman Radiofrequency Surgitron. There is no device as precise and as safe for labial surgery.

*** The Ellman Surgetron is more superior than other lasers since it has a “Cool Tip.”  The lateral thermal damage with the. Ellman Surgitron is only 20-30 microns. Compared to the Diamond Laser Scalpel which  has lateral thermal damage measured at 150 to 350 microns. The 980 diode laser and standard electrocautery has thermal damage measured in millimeters, a quantum leap in thermal tissue  injury***

Q. When can sex  be resumed after the surgery?

A:  Abstain from sexual intercourse for approximately 4-6 weeks is recommended.

Q. When can work be resumed after laser vaginal rejuvenation?

A: If one has  a work with no strenuous activities involved 5-7 days rest is enough.

Q. How much discomfort will I have after the surgery?

A: With the operative anesthetic patient is usually pain free for the first 4-6 hours post-op some . After this, a mild discomfort can  be noted and controlled by analgesics and cold packs to the area. Patient is usually pain free the very next day.

Q. How much does laser vaginal rejuvenation cost?

A: Fees are all-inclusive of the surgical center, anesthesiologist, surgeon, and follow-up. There is a small fee for the initial consult which is applied to the total cost of the procedure(s). The procedure fees depend on the type of the procedure and the extent. A fee range can be provided once we know your particular needs.

Q: What are the expected risks of Vaginal surgeries?

A:  Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation is a low-risk, high-return surgery. The serious risks, as is true with any surgery, are hemorrhage, scarring, infection and anesthetic risks. With Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation, these risks are less than one percent.

Q: Can the center offer alternative options to women who wants to enhace their sexual gratification but is not yet ready for a surgical procedure?

A: One can try the G-Shot®. This  is available to make the process of identifying and stimulating the G-spot easier. The G spot, or Grafenberg spot is located on the upper vaginal wall a few centimeters away from the vaginal opening. Although it is difficult to demonstrate anatomically, its physiologic affect is one of sexual pleasure and intensity of orgasm. The G-spot, however, is difficult for women, and or for their partners, to identify.

By injecting a specially formulated collagen on the area, sexual pleasure is greatly enhanced for the majority of  women. The effect lasts  for  4 to 6 months .

That  is several months of gratifying sexual experience simply put at!

The procedure is done on an outpatient basis and requires about 20 minutes to complete. A topical anesthesia is used. After the procedure, discomfort is minimal and complications are rare. Activites such as usual work or driving can be resumed immediately and patients can resume sexual activities in 24 hours.
